Emerald City Feis at The Seattle Center

Accommodations

The Emerald City Feis is being held in the Northwest Rooms at the Seattle Center. This neighborhood is referred to as "Lower Queen Anne" The Seattle Center consists of 74 acres; the feis is in the northwest corner of the Seattle Center (The Space Needle is at the southeast corner).

There are many hotels in the area surrounding the Seattle Center. Some are more family appropriate than others. Other hotels claim they are within walking distance of the Seattle Center, but if you're at the opposite corner of the Seattle Center on a typical Seattle April day, you may not agree with that assessment.

Of the hotels within a realistic walking distance of the Northwest Rooms at the Seattle Center, we recommend the following hotels and have established special rates with each of these.

Directly across the street from the Northwest Rooms at the Seattle Center is the Inn at Queen Anne (www.innatqueenanne.com). Rooms start at $75.00 per night for one or two people (plus applicable taxes and a $2.00 daily tourism fee). There is a maximum of 3 people per room and there is an additional $10.00 charge for the 3rd adult. All rooms have mini-kitchens and there is a grocery store one block away. Parking is available but limited so this would be an ideal hotel for those flying into Seattle who don't want the hassle of renting a car. This hotel is a converted apartment building dating from the 1930s and offers the charm of a home away from home. Please book by March 25th online (promo code FEIS) or by calling 206.282.7357 or 800.952.5043 (ask for the Emerald City Feis rate to take advantage of the discounted room rate).    The newest hotel in the area is the Maxwell (www.themaxwellhotel.com). Walking to the Northwest Rooms for the feis would be a one block walk to the Seattle Center and about a two to three block walk through the Seattle Center campus. The Maxwell offers the following amenities: limited complimentary guest parking, complimentary internet access, and an indoor pool and fitness room. They have offered a feis rate of 15% off of the lowest available rate (plus applicable taxes and a $2.00 daily tourism fee). Note: the lowest available rate may vary. Please be advised that there are other hotels in the neighborhood that may offer better room rates. However, these hotels may or may not meet the standards to which you are accustomed. Downtown Seattle has most of the major hotel chains and because this is the off-season, you may find a special weekend rate. Some of the 4-star downtown hotels are: Grand Hyatt, Sorrento Hotel, Fairmont Olympic, Westin, Hotel Vintage Park, Hotel Monaco, Alexis, Sheraton, and the Edgewater.

If you are taking a taxi to the feis, tell them to take you to the Northwest Rooms of the Seattle Center at 1st Avenue North and Republican Street. The Northwest Rooms are just north of Key Arena.
